Director of Payroll

Job Objective: Manage and provide strategic, tactical, and operational leadership for the development and sustainment of systems, processes, and resources for Payroll operations.

Qualifications:
¨ Strong knowledge of Dayforce Payroll Administration

¨ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Admin with two (2) years’ experience or five (5) years payroll related experience and direct supervision, preferably in a not-for-profit environment

¨ Strong leadership and supervisory experience required

¨ Experience processing multi-state payroll

¨ CPP certification a plus

¨ Solid understanding of garnishments, payroll rules and regulations and legal compliance practices

¨ Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and provide strategic direction to the payroll team.

  2. Ensure the completion of payroll control activities to include checklists, as well as timeliness and verification of data.

  3. Develop and lead process improvements for the payroll operations.

  4. Develop and direct the preparation of reports summarizing payroll, bonus payments, deductions, withholdings, bank recons and labor/wage reports.

  5. Ensure compliance with all applicable government and regulatory law, regulations, and requirements.

  6. Review and ensure reconciliation and analysis of payroll related balance sheet accounts, accounts, ledgers, and journals.

  7. Research company-wide payroll processes to include interfaces between multiple systems to include HRMS, HRIS & FIN, etc.

  8. Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.

  9. Audit and review quarterly and annual filings and other miscellaneous external payroll reports.

  10. Communicate actively with Accounting, HR, Contracts, and Billing to review cross-departmental impacts and accuracy of data sharing.

  11. Provide expertise in payroll best practices and communicate the fundamentals to individuals at all levels within the organization.
    Direct and lead internal audit functions as well as documenting random audits of payroll related processes.
