Second Start is a private non-profit educational corporation located in Concord, New Hampshire since 1971. Second Start offers a wide variety of programs designed to improve the economic and educational well-being of New Hampshire residents.

Our mission is to help people become more productive workers, family members and community citizens. We provide supportive, affordable and effective educational programs, including: adult basic education, job training and career counseling, education and training for at-risk youth, and child care services.

School Counselor with Drug and Alcohol Prevention experience preferred

This is a 40 hour per week, full-time, school year, benefit eligible position for a Counselor with Second Start’s Alternative High School. The position will be available in January 2019. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth. Candidates will be trained to implement a SAMHSA model program (Project Success), which is a highly effective, school based, substance abuse and early intervention program. Candidate must have the ability to provide crisis intervention, lead group counseling sessions, implement classroom based curriculum about prevention, provide parent and staff support and school guidance. We are looking for a certified school guidance counselor or a LDAC, LMHP or CPS certified individual. Prior mental health experience with youth and adolescents as well as drug and alcohol counseling experience preferred.

  • School Guidance and/or LDAC, LMHP or CPS Certification.
