The New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA) is looking for a dynamic, highly-motivated attorney with an interest in local government to fill the newly-created position of Municipal Services Counsel.

The Municipal Services Counsel (MSC) will provide both legislative and legal services to NHMA’s member municipalities. Legislative services include advocating municipal interests before state legislators and other officials in the form of oral and written testimony and drafting and monitoring legislation to accomplish NHMA policy positions. Legal services include providing legal advice and guidance to local government officials and employees through presentations, telephone and in-person consultations, and written legal opinions. The MSC will be integral in preparing, coordinating, and participating in training programs, seminars, and workshops on a variety of topics in locations across the state.

The MSC will work closely with other staff, including Government Affairs Counsel and Legal Services Counsel. The position reports directly to the Executive Director. The applicant must have a juris doctorate degree and be member in good standing with the New Hampshire Bar Association, or be able to waive into New Hampshire. Strong public speaking and advocacy skills required. Prior municipal experience preferred.
