Capacity Building Event

Media Skills Boot Camp

Presented by: Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications

Become a more effective media communicator and spokesperson! This one-day workshop is aimed at anyone who interacts with reporters, anchors, writers and bloggers in TV, print, radio, podcasts, or online. It’s designed to help people working in law enforcement, emergency services, business, government, law, education, non-profits, medicine, sports, and academia. If you want to improve your media skills and boost your brand, this workshop is for you.

Instructor Mike Nikitas, a consultant to top corporations, has taught hundreds of people to sharpen their media profile. He is an adjunct professor of media strategy and skills at UNH, Durham and a former award-winning news and business journalist at NECN (New England Cable News).

The workshop includes understanding different media and the approaches that work best in each, demystifying what journalists look for, developing and sticking to a message, how to be clear and concise and basic crisis planning. You also will learn the fundamentals of appearing on-camera, body language, image, and voice. And in keeping with the Loeb School philosophy of hands-on instruction, you’ll engage in mock, videotaped interviews and critiques, all experienced in a positive atmosphere designed to prepare you for successful media exposure.
