Keene Family YMCA Names Daniel Smith as New CEO

Smith Brings 16 Years of CEO Experience to Organization

Keene — The Keene Family YMCA named Daniel Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 28, 2019. Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a nationwide search, Smith will succeed Hélène Mogridge.

Daniel Smith comes to the Keene Family YMCA with 25 years of experience in the non-profit world. Currently the CEO of the Cadillac Area YMCA in Cadillac Michigan, a role he held for the past eight years, Smith increased membership 60%, increased program participation 50%, and raised annual contributions to 20%.

In Keene, Smith’s specific areas of focus will be on implementing the strategic plan, building and leading the staff, advocating for the YMCA and its mission, and securing volunteer and financial resources.

YMCA Board President Michael Hoefer said “During our search for a new CEO, we looked at candidates from New Hampshire to Alaska. With Dan’s experience in growing membership, program participation, and working with community organizations, we are convinced that the Keene Family YMCA, and indeed our entire community, will have a fantastic leader for years to come.”

Smith said, “I could not be more excited to join the Keene Family YMCA as its leader. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers to build upon the success and growth the organization. My entire family visited Keene and it was obvious to us what a special community it is. We’re looking forward to making the Monadnock Region our home.”

Daniel Smith earned his BA from Hartwick College in Oneonta NY.
