Granite United Way Invests in Manchester’s Mental Health

Granite United Way recently announced a $40,000 grant to Manchester Community Health Center (MCHC) to support MCHC’s collaboration with the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester and YWCA New Hampshire for mental health treatment and prevention of substance misuse.

“Granite United Way has been a strong supporter of efforts to integrate behavioral health services within primary care safety-net providers in Manchester,” said Katy Burchett, Director of Social Services at Manchester Community Health Center. “This year’s continued support allows us to add community partners Child and Family Services and the YWCA to our collaboration, effectively expanding our Behavioral Health Integration Project further into the community, filling gaps in services and improving access for even more residents in Manchester.”

A multi-agency team representing Manchester Community Health Center, the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, YWCA New Hampshire, and Child and Family Services is partnering with Granite United Way to increase access to behavioral health services.

The grant will be used to increase access to urgently needed behavioral health services. Mental health practitioners will be placed at Child Health Services at MCHC and the YWCA’s Crisis Support Services. In addition, Child and Family Services will provide home based services as well as parent and staff support services to the Manchester Community Schools Project. “Granite United Way is proud to partner with Manchester Community Health Center in our shared goal of improving lives throughout the community,” said Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way.
