Families First welcomes new primary care provider

Portsmouth – Families First Health and Support Center recently welcomed internal medicine doctor Kasra Djalayer, MD, to its primary-care team. Dr. Djalayer has 30 years of medical education and experience, including training in obesity medicine, geriatrics, rheumatology, clinical immunology and dementia, as well as general medicine. He has studied and worked in Spain, Quatar, the United Kingdom and most of the New England states.

Dr. Djalayer came to Families First last November as a “locum tenens” (subsitute) physician before recently joining the community health center on a permanent basis. He decided to make a commitment to Families First, he says, because of the “friendly, warm environment and the empathy I find among staff, as well as the opportunities for collaboration and co-production.” He says he learned in business school – he has been to business school as well as medical school –  that empathy, collaboration and co-production are what create the right environment to achieve excellence. “This is what I find at Families First – the right environment to take care of patients in the best manner,” he says.

Dr. Djalayer received his medical degree from Complutense University of Madrid in 1989. He completed a fellowship with the University of Vermont in rheumatology and clinical immunology; a residency with Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center in Connecticut; a mini- fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from Stanford University; a postgraduate subspecialty diploma in rheumatology and clinical immunology from the University of South Wales; a subspecialty in obesity medicine from Harvard University; and a senior diplomate in disability medicine. And he has an MBA and Executive MBA (focused in international healthcare leadership management) from McGill University in Montreal.

Dr. Djalayer is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
