Program & Communications Assistant

The NH Center for Nonprofits is a statewide association with 700 nonprofit, corporate, and individual members who have joined together to strengthen and give voice to the state’s nonprofit sector. The Center offers a wide range of leadership, management, and skill building educational programs, along with resources and tools for nonprofit staff and board leaders. The Center works to elevate the status of the nonprofit sector, acts as a convener on critical issues that impact nonprofits, and advocates on behalf of the sector.


The NH Center for Nonprofit is seeking a motivated, tech-savvy individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to join our team. The Program & Communications Coordinator is responsible for executing the Center’s communications tactics including event promotion, e-mail newsletters, social media and website. The position also supports program logistics including coordinating event materials, securing sites and catering and set-up, clean-up and staffing at the events. This position would integrate skills needed to use online tools and software to effectively and efficiently reach our audience with the ability to interact in a professional manner with vendors and nonprofit staff and board members.

This position is 32-hours per week to start. It is anticipated that it will be full-time by January 2018. Occasional nights and weekends are required.

Requirements:

Technology Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint is required
  • Working knowledge of web content management, MailChimp/Constant Contact
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS strongly preferred

Language skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Engaging telephone manner
  • Ability to effectively present information one-to-one and in small groups of members or employees of organization. 

Reasoning ability: 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to effectively handle problems involving several variables
  • Ability to apply solution-based approach to day-to-day situations.

Organizational Ability:

  • Attention to detail including use of checklists and calendars to organize self around deadlines and due dates.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.

Other Requirements: 

  • Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license.
  • Two years of proven experience in an office environment. Nonprofit experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute the Center’s communications strategies to strengthen the Center’s presence with key constituencies, drive event participation and supports membership growth.
  • Develop and produce weekly e-newsletters    
  • Design collateral materials including flyers, postcards and event handouts
  • Update content on the Center’s websites
  • Manage and grow e-mail subscriber lists
  • Implement social media strategies
  • Program event logistics: securing sites and catering, event staffing (travel required)
  • Assists in launching marketing materials using tools including: MailChimp/Constant Contact, Survey Monkey and social media sites
  • Other duties as assigned
