Do you need help caring for an aging loved one? Compass Care is a non-profit organization helping seniors to maintain their dignity and independence while aging at home with their families. With a variety of programs, we work to provide practical solutions to help ease families through the challenges of aging and caregiving. Our Adult Day Health Program, located in a bright and sunny space at 127 Parrott Ave. in Portsmouth, is a safe and stimulating place for seniors who should not be home alone during the day. The program provides camaraderie, engaging activities, medical supervision and more, to seniors who wish to reside with their families, but need additional support. With options including transportation, hygiene assistance and exercise programs, seniors can enjoy live music, friendship, mental stimulation, a healthy meal and--in good weather--an outdoor deck and garden.
The Adult Day Health Program (ADP) can give caregivers a break, enhance the health of their aging loved one and be far more affordable than in-home visits or residential placement. Clients attending the ADP come to us for a variety of reasons…it could be general frailty, Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, a stroke, a cognitive dementia, diabetes or other causes. The staff members of Compass Care are all deeply committed to working with the aging population and their families--many have been family caregivers themselves. Compass Care also offers Caregiver Support Groups, a Senior Companion Program for isolated seniors, and free, community-based Senior Wellness Clinics.
