Nonprofit Primary Project Update - 09/04/2007
Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas takes the lead as the first to inaugurate the Nonprofit Primary Project. Huckabee will meet with Nonprofit Leaders to talk about the impact of the nonprofit sector, its future, and his ideas for keeping the nonprofit sector strong on Thursday, September 6th at 1:30 at the McConnell Center in Dover. Nonprofit leaders, board members, and volunteers from across the state are welcome. Cynthia Mills, President and CEO of the Tree Care Industry a NH-based nonprofit, has agreed to serve as Chair of the Nonprofit Primary Project NH Division
Cynthia Mills, Chair of the Primary Project had an opportunity to talk with Governor Bill Richardson in Londonderry NH September 1st and asked him about his support for the nonprofit sector. Cynthia reports that Governor Richardson “said that on the issue of taxation, it was important for us to maintain our status. He saw us as providing partnership in everything from energy research to housing to poverty. He perceives we are strongest in areas like these. He is supportive of finding new ways to partner.
NHCN is working with Project Coordinator Ann McLane Kuster of Rath, Young and Pignatelli to line up several candidate sessions in the Lebanon area for later in September when a number of the candidates will take part in a debate at Dartmouth College; stay tuned for more details as these sessions are booked.
