Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee Inaugurates Primary Project!!
Speaking at the inaugural Nonprofit Primary Project candidate forum, Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas met with over 50 nonprofit leaders at the McConnell Center Thursday, September 6th, to engage in a lengthy dialogue about the impact and role of America’s nonprofit sector.
Greg Burdwood, executive director of the HUB Family Resource Center in Dover, started the program by asking Governor Huckabee, “If you were president, what would you do to strengthen the nonprofit sector?”
Governor Huckabee shared his experience and involvement with several nonprofit organizations, including the United Way, the Boy Scouts, and the American Cancer Society. He said he believes every American should do something good for the community for which they aren’t paid, and he would like the government to understand the economic value of the services nonprofits provide to their communities.
“We are very pleased with this first event and thankful to Governor Huckabee for meeting with us to speak to representatives of NH’s more than 6,000 nonprofits. We look forward to more forums where we will continue to hear from candidates about how they will strengthen the nonprofit sector, which makes up 10% of America’s workforce,” said Mary Ellen Jackson, executive director of the NH Center for Nonprofits.
