Get Out the Vote September 11
August 30, 2012 - On September 11, 2012, voters will head to the polls for the New Hampshire state primary elections. NonprofitVOTE is a national organization whose sole mission is to engage Americans in voting and elections. Learn more about how to register to vote, where to vote and other important Granite State voting information.

The Center has posted a list of registered candidates for the New Hampshire offices of Governor, Executive Council, State Senate as well as the candidates in the race for the US Congressional First and Second Districts.

All Politics are Local
July 19, 2012 - The old saying that “All Politics are Local”, was recently proven true once again by a member of the Center.  The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center hosted Executive Councilor Ray Burton to visit and learn more about their organization and its role in the fabric of New Hampshire.The Center applauds these efforts and encourages all nonprofits to engage and interact with their elected representatives on a local level.  The results of such interactions are that our legislators are better informed and that deeper relationships are formed. Legislative Updates
Mandatory Training Bill Effort Ended with the 2012 Session
SB177, the bill that would have required some level of mandatory training for nonprofit boards with state contracts was sent to Interim Study at the end of the 2012 session. There is now indication that the state’s efforts, instead, will focus on making elements of board training, namely fiduciary responsibilities, part of the state’s procurement process. The Center and other stakeholders stand ready to be part of those ongoing discussions.

HB1308, the bill that would have brought certain nonprofits under the current right to know statutes resurfaced as a floor amendment, 2012-2292h,, this week in the final days to act on bills for the 2012 session.

The Handbook of New Hampshire Elected Officials (Blue Book) is a reference book of government and politics in NH frequently used by lobbyists. It is a collection of information about the Governor, Executive Councilors, State Senators and State Representatives including photographs, biographies, and roll call votes. It also includes information about lawmaking process, legislative committee assignments, lobbying law, NH registered lobbyists and the New Hampshire Constitution.
