Summary

The Community Events Manager is responsible for the planning and logistics that come with executing community-focused programs including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Cochecho Arts Festival
  • Apple Harvest Day
  • Apple Harvest Day 5K
  • Annual Awards Dinner
  • City Lights
  • Festival of Trees
  • Sweepstakes & Auction
  • Citizens Leadership Academy

This is a full-time (37.5 hours a week) position with occasional nights and weekends required. Some flexibility in schedule to accommodate working outside regular business hours. Professional development opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and implementing the chamber’s community events
  • Schedule, organize, set up and attend all community events
  • Coordinate all volunteers for events
  • Cultivate sponsorship and in-kind donations for community programs and events
  • Serve as staff liaison to community event committees
  • Maintain effective history and databases of all event timelines, vendors, and volunteers
  • Coordinate committee meetings, site visits, and permitting for all events
  • Work with the Chamber president to establish annual event budgets and goals
  • With Chamber communications staff, coordinate promotion, marketing, and media opportunities for events
  • Working with the Chamber president, recommend and develop feasible and profitable new events as needed
  • Possible oversight of community events intern

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or two to three years of related experience. Background in planning corporate or community events including coordinating vendors, venue selection, contract review and negotiation, logistics, and promotion planning, program and/or project management. Must be able to lift 40 pounds, climb an 8- to 10-foot ladder, and stand for long periods of time. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver license.

Personable: Ability to work constructively with people of various backgrounds, personalities, and levels of knowledge or experience. Ability and willingness to reach out to new contacts to help source new partnerships for our community programs.

Data-driven: Ability to analyze and interpret data to help drive decision making.

Creative: Ability to generate new ideas on your own and collaboratively with your teammates.
