NH Women’s Alliance Receives Grant to Continue Advocacy Work

Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Women's Alliance (NHWA), located in Concord, recently received a grant from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation in Etna, New Hampshire to support operations in 2009. The NHWA will use this money to improve communications, grassroots organizing efforts, and advocacy coaching with women throughout the state. In addition, this grant will support an additional membership drive thereby leveraging new dollars for sustained organizational support.

Nikki Murphy, Director of the NHWA elaborates stating, “The NHWA has spent a large amount of our time and resources in 2009 educating and advocating for working families in New Hampshire.  Our Work and Family Economic Sustainability Initiative is comprised of three family-friendly policies which will help granite staters better balance their work and family responsibilities. Paid Sick Days, Paid Family/Medical Leave and Flexible Work Arrangements are all policies which reflect the needs of the 21st century workforce. In today’s society and especially in these tough economic times, where both parents need to work to survive, families need time off to care for themselves or sick family members and they require the flexibility to do so.”

NHWA is a nonpartisan educational and advocacy organization which promotes the economic and social well-being of women and families in New Hampshire.  If you would like more information about the NHWA please call 603.224.9105 or visit the NHWA website at www.nhwomen.org.
