Ten Organizations Complete Nonprofit Sustainability Institute

The NH Center for Nonprofits announced the completion of the first cohort of the Nonprofit Sustainability Institute. Ten organizations participated in the six-month program which is based on the theories and teachings of The Sustainability Mindset.

The Institute is designed to help nonprofit leaders advance their strategic business practices. Supported by grants from the Endowment for Health and Samuel P. Hunt Foundation, the program featured nationally recognized author and speaker, Steve Zimmerman of Spectrum Nonprofit Services. Steve worked with teams from ten nonprofit organizations in a combination of in-person workshops, webinars and mentoring sessions. The goal of the program was to leave organizations with a clear process and tool for thinking about their dual bottom lines—financial viability and mission impact—in a holistic way.

“We are pleased to offer these high-quality resources and financial mentoring services to New Hampshire nonprofits. Increasing the fiscal acumen of our nonprofit staff and boards is a critical component of dealing with today’s funding challenges and strengthening the sector and the state,” noted Kathleen Reardon, CEO of the Center. “We look forward to working with Steve again in 2018.”

Participating organizations were:

  • Adaptive Sports Partners,
  • Community Action Partnership of Strafford County,
  • the Currier Museum of Art,
  • Krempels Center,
  • the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center,
  • Nashua Police Athletic League,
  • NH Bar Association,
  • NH Businesses for Social Responsibility,
  • NH Humanities, and
  • Southeastern NH Services.

The Center will begin to accept applications for the 2018 cohort in September.
