Stephen A. Norton, Executive Director of the NH Center for Public Policy, was recently elected President of the Board for the NH Center for Nonprofits.
"I am honored and excited by this opportunity. These are challenging times for all sectors and the NH Center for Nonprofits has an important role to play in uniting the nonprofit community and elevating awareness of the critical importance of the sector," states Norton.
Over the past 20 years, Steve's work experience has shown a strong commitment to the nonprofit and public sector. As Executive Director of The New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies, a private, nonprofit, non-partisan think tank, he leads his organization with a focus on enhancing and enriching policy conversations on issues of critical importance to New Hampshire’s future.
Prior to 2005, Steve worked for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, most recently as the State’s Medicaid Director. Between 1990 and 1998, he was a Research Associate at the Urban Institute in Washington DC.
A native of Gilford New Hampshire, Steve now lives in Concord with his family. In 2008 he was selected as one of New Hampshire’s 25 up and coming leaders by Business NH Magazine. In addition to his volunteer leadership role with the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, he serves as a board member of the Maine Health Information Center, as a member of the Federal Reserve Board’s New England Public Policy Advisory Board and sits on Concord New Hampshire’s Zoning Board.
Joining Norton as newly elected Board Officers for the NH Center for Nonprofits are Peter Milnes, Chairman & CEO of INEX Capital & Growth Advisors, serving as Vice-President, Grace Mattern , Executive Director of the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, serving as secretary, and Jane Difley, President and Forester for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, serving as Board Treasurer.
