Kids Voting New Hampshire receives $5,000 grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation
Concord, NH - Kids Voting New Hampshire is proud to announce support from the Lincoln Financial Foundation as part of their grants distribution in the area of Education.
A longtime supporter of the civic education program, the Lincoln Financial Foundation recently awarded Kids Voting New Hampshire (NH) a $5,000 grant to support program outreach across the state in advance of the 2010 statewide elections with the goals of increasing the number of participating cities and towns and increasing student participation.
Throughout the program’s inception and growth, the Lincoln Financial Foundation has provided Kids Voting NH with essential monetary support as well as volunteer resources for student voting in Concord each election cycle.
“Our employees volunteering on Election Day have witnessed first hand the impact Kids Voting New Hampshire has in showing students the importance of voting and participatory democracy,” said Byron Champlin, Assistant Vice President and Program Officer of the Lincoln Financial Foundation. “With deep commitment to New Hampshire and the Concord community, the Lincoln Financial Foundation is proud to support a program that helps sustain the high level of civic engagement in the state.”
A state affiliate of the national Kids Voting USA network, Kids Voting NH is a community-based program of the Political Library. Kids Voting NH combines civic education in the classroom with an authentic voting experience at the polls for students on Election Day. The program aims to encourage positive long-term voting behavior and civic participation.
“We are extremely grateful for support from the Lincoln Financial Foundation as we continue to expand Kids Voting New Hampshire in Concord and to more cities and towns across the Granite State,” said Celina Hurley, Director of External Affairs at the Political Library. “The Foundation’s generous grant and volunteer support are noteworthy examples of civic engagement in the community.”
The Political Library managed Kids Voting NH in ten communities in the 2008 General Elections with nearly 7,000 student ballots cast. The program is seeking to expand the number of participating cities and towns to twenty in 2010 with more than 10,000 students involved on Election Day.
