On Wednesday, May 14, 2008, New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) hosted an open house to celebrate the opening of its new office in Concord. Governor John Lynch, along with New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice James Duggan, New Hampshire Judicial Council Executive Director Nina Gardner, Rep. Elizabeth Hager, NHLA Board Chair W. John Funk, and NHLA Executive Director John Tobin were there to provide brief remarks and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The new office was made possible through a state appropriation obtained due to the leadership of Rep. Elizabeth Hager, Sen. Sylvia Larsen, Sen. Lou D’Allessandro, and Sen. Joe Foster. Concord-area Representatives Jerry Osbourne, Mary Stuart Gill, and Rep. Mary Jane Wallner also provided support. Funding received from the United Way of Merrimack County will also help support the new office. The office includes four attorneys, one paralegal, and support staff to serve low-income and elderly people of Merrimack and Belknap Counties. NHLA’s administrative staff has also moved from Manchester to the new Concord location. The office is located at 117 North State Street, which formerly served as the Concord office for the New Hampshire Public Defender Program. You can reach the new Concord office at 603-223-9750. |
