The Children’s Alliance of New Hampshire is pleased to announce that John DeJoie will be the new Advocacy and Outreach consultant for the NH Child Advocacy Network (NH CAN) program beginning the week of August 9.
John DeJoie served four terms in the House of Representatives, representing Concord from 2002–2010. As a legislator, John sat on a number of committees including the Finance Committee from 2007 – 2010. From 2009 – 2010, John was the Vice Chair of the Finance Committee’s Division III which oversees the budget of the Department of Health and Human Services. John is particularly proud of his work on the legislative initiatives that created a NH Autism registry, Michelle’s Law allowing young adults to remain on their parent’s health insurance policy until age 26, and the NH Rx advantage program.
Prior to his legislative career, John worked for eleven years at the Solomon Mental Health Center in Lowell, MA. John holds a Masters in Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, MA. He has been a member of the Concord Fire Department since 1995 and will continue his service there while working as the NH CAN consultant.
In 2009, John was named by Early Learning NH as one of the House and Senate Budget Champions, and in 2006, designated Legislator of the Year by both the Disability Rights Center and the National Association of Social Workers.
“Joining the Children’s Alliance as the coordinator of NH CAN allows me to make use of my diverse background, interests and skills in new ways,” John DeJoie stated. “I look forward to meeting the many members of NH CAN and working with them to improve life for all of New Hampshire’s children.”
The Children’s Alliance and NH Child Advocacy Network warmly welcome John DeJoie. John can be reached after August 9 at the Children’s Alliance office at (603) 225-2264 or by email at jdejoie@ChildrenNH.org. |
