Volunteer NH and NH Center for Nonprofits Partner on High Impact Volunteer Engagement Program

WASHINGTON - Today, Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) announced that Volunteer New Hampshire (VNH) has received a grant through the Volunteer Generation Fund of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service programs. Volunteer NH will use the Volunteer Generation Fund grant to increase volunteer engagement statewide in New Hampshire, expand volunteer opportunities, and build the capacity of nonprofits to work with volunteers to achieve high-impact results.

HNH Foundation Awards $234,202 to Improve the Health of New Hampshire Children

The HNH Foundation awarded $234,202 in grants in spring 2017. The awards benefited ten health-related initiatives and projects at non-profit and community organizations across the state.  The HNH Foundation made one-year grants to address the health of New Hampshire’s youngest and most vulnerable children and their families.

HAVEN Named Champion in Action in Violence Prevention Category

HAVEN (formerly A Safe Place & SASS), a non-profit dedicated to addressing public health, has been named a 2017 Champion in Action® in the category of violence prevention. The award, announced by Citizens Bank and the New Hampshire Union Leader, includes $35,000 in unrestricted funding as well as promotional and volunteer support for the organization’s outstanding work, providing 24-hour support services to victims of violence throughout Southeastern New Hampshire.

Bank of America Makes “Basic Needs” Grant to Families First

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently granted $15,000 to Families First Health & Support Center, the community health center in Portsmouth. The grant will be used toward salaries of Families First’s staff who help people get their basic needs met: care coordinators, insurance enrollment assisters, home visitors, and medication assistance program staff.

Northeast Delta Dental Foundation Shows Continued Support of Families First

The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded an $8,000 grant to support three dental programs at Families First Health and Support Center: on-site dental care, the school-based program known as Seacoast Healthy Grins, and mobile dental care for people experiencing homelessness. The foundation has donated to Families First Dental Center annually since the center’s founding in 2003.

Bishop’s Charitable Fund Supports Dental Care for Low Income Patients

Families First Health & Support Center received a $2,500 contribution from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund toward the Dental Patient Assistance Fund at Families First. The community health center uses this fund to help patients with very low incomes pay for restorative care and dentures, as well as to help pregnant women and people with diabetes pay for preventive (hygiene) dental care.

Veteran's Resort Chapel Receives $20,000 from Dealership

A check for $20,000 was presented Monday to the Veteran's Resort Chapel. Organizer Peter MacDonald said the money will allow the group to build three or four more tiny homes on the Lee property, which is dedicated to keeping combat vets from homelessness.

NH Charitable Foundation Pledges Three Years of Support to Families First’s Dental Program

Families First Health and Support Center recently received a three-year grant worth a total of $60,000 from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s Portsmouth Rehabilitation Center Fund. The grant will support ongoing services at their Dental Center in Portsmouth and the establishment of a weekly mobile dental clinic in Seabrook, scheduled to open early 2017.
