Call For Nominations For 2008 Women’s Recognition Award

Do you know a New Hampshire woman who has distinguished herself as a community leader?  Whose work has enhanced the well-being of women and girls in our state?  The New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women is now accepting nominations for the 2008 Women’s Recognition Award, its 12th annual.
 
Each year this honor is presented to a woman who resides in New Hampshire.  The women who are nominated to receive this recognition have demonstrated their capacity to inspire, innovate, create opportunities and improve the lives of all New Hampshire citizens by elevating the status of women in our state. 
 
Commission on the Status of Women Executive Director Sylvia Gale notes, “The selection process becomes increasingly difficult as there are many exemplary nominees. The Commission is proud of its legacy of recognizing one accomplished New Hampshire woman each year over the past 12 years.”
 
Members of the Commission select the award recipient from nominations which are submitted by July 1st.  A recognition ceremony with the Governor and Executive Council will be held in August in conjunction with Women’s Equality Day, celebrating women’s suffrage. Recent recipients of this honor have included:  Sandra Hicks, Manchester, 2000; Liz Whaley, Newmarket, 2001; Eileen Phinney, Goffstown, 2002; Clare Houston, Exeter, 2003; Dr. Wendy Gladstone, Exeter, 2004; Kristann Moody, Barrington, 2005; Niki Miller, Manchester, 2006; and  JerriAnne Boggis, Milford, 2007.  .
 
Guidelines and forms for making nominations can be obtained by calling the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women at 271-2660 or can be found on the Commission web site: www.nh.gov/csw.  The deadline for submitting nominations is July 1, 2008.
