Manchester, NH - St. Mary’s Bank announced they recently gave $2,500 to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind to support the organization’s Technology Center client services program.
Through newly developed assistive technology, this program gives school-age, working-age and newly retired blind people the ability to access information and communicate on par with fully sighted family, friends and colleagues.
“St. Mary’s is dedicated to the credit union mission of ‘people helping people’,” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach at St. Mary’s Bank. “Our communities are enriched by organizations such as the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, and we’re pleased to be able to support their programs and services.”
Headquartered at the McGreal Sight Center in Concord, the New Hampshire Association for the Blind provides vision rehabilitation services for New Hampshire residents of all ages who are blind and visually impaired. Founded in 1912, it delivers assistance in virtually every community statewide, including social work, rehabilitation teaching, orientation and mobility instruction, low vision services, adaptive technology support and public education.
“Technology services are an essential component for people maintaining or regaining independence following loss of sight,” said George F. Theriault, association President and CEO. “We’re grateful to St. Mary’s Bank for their donation, which will be used to provide these specialized services to clients across New Hampshire including over 1,300 clients living in the Greater Manchester area.”
