Kelley Hobbs has been names as the new Executive Director for Makin' it Happen Coalition.  Kelley has been serving as Interim Executive Director and had been the Associate Director for 2 years previously.   Science Center Welcomes New Facilities Director
Holderness, NH – The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is pleased to welcome Tim Curry as its new Facilities Director.  As Facilities Director, Curry will be responsible for the creation and installation of new exhibits, maintenance and upkeep of existing exhibits and trails, all land management of the 200 acre Science Center campus, and oversight of all building systems and facilities.

  Boys & Girls Club Receives Grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation
Nashua, NH  -  The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to help the Club make the transition to its new Teen Center at the Club.  The grant will support the delivery and quality of teen programs and services to adolescents over the next year as the Club completes the Teen Center at the Club in the lower level at the 47 Grand Avenue facility.

  New Award Honors Commissioner of NH Dept. of Cultural Resources
The first annual "Van McLeod Award," named in honor of the commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Cultural Resources, was presented at the NH Film Festival. McLeod was recognized for saving the film office in the state and his tireless support of the industry says Nicole Gregg, NH Film Festival's executive director. "He is the face of the film industry here in New Hampshire." The new award will be given to honor someone who makes a significant contribution to the film or television industry and is affiliated with New Hanpshire in some way.

The first Van McLeod Award went to Chase Bailey of Left Bank Films, Portsmouth. His films include "The Libertine" starring John Malkovich and Johnny Depp, and this year's N.H. Film Festival submission, "The Life Before Her Eyes." Bailey's earnest care, concern, and generous support of N.H. filmmakers landed him the recognition.

  Manchester Community Music School named 2008 Champion in Action
Manchester, N.H. – Citizens Bank New Hampshire and WMUR-TV have named Manchester Community Music School as its 2008 fourth quarter Champion in Action® in the area of arts & culture. As part of the award, Manchester Community Music School will receive a $25,000 grant, media coverage, and extensive promotional and volunteer support for its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for New Hampshire residents through music.

  USDA Rural Development Awards $100,000 Grants
Montpelier, VT - USDA Rural Development (RD) has selected two New Hampshire organizations to receive Housing Preservation Grants (HPG) to help income eligible homeowners repair or rehabilitate their homes.  Rural Development’s HPG program awards grants to intermediaries such as town governments, housing authorities, or nonprofit organizations, which in turn, give the money to homeowners for home repairs. The funds can be used for heating and plumbing, roofing, water and sewer, and energy efficiency improvements to homes owned by income eligible homeowners.

  NH Children's Trust Fund 2008 Grants Announced
NHCTF announced grants totaling over $160,000, going to 35 agencies in every corner of NH, from Berlin to Keene to Nashua to the Seacoast to Claremont and the Upper Valley. 14 first year grants were made, with 21 continuing in their second year of funding.
