 Sovereign Bank Supports Credit Counseling in Communities Throughout NH
Concord, NH – Consumer Credit Counseling Services of NH & VT received $2,000 from  Sovereign Bank’s Foundation to support credit counseling in communities throughout NH.

Funding received will assist CCCS of NH & VT cover the cost of offering free credit, budget and financial counseling to families in New Hampshire. The majority of the services offered by CCCS of NH & VT are free to consumers. In today’s economic reality the agency has seen the need for its services increase to record numbers. “December has been historically a slow month for appointments, however, this past December CCCS of NH & VT scheduled 687 appointments through its networks of 14 offices in both states.” said Ken Belanger, Director of Operations for the agency.

 Endowment for Health Awards More Than a Half-Million Dollars to Statewide Health Projects
Concord, NH – The Endowment for Health, New Hampshire’s largest health foundation, recently awarded more than $500,000 in grants.  Awards were made to 13 organizations for the resources necessary to forward health-related policies and projects in New Hampshire.  Many of these projects have statewide reach while others address need in targeted geographic areas of the state.

 NH Catholic Charities Receives Federal Grant
Manchester, N.H. - NH Catholic Charities has announced that it has been awarded a federal grant from the Office on Violence Against Women which is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice as part of the Legal Assistance for Victims program. The $400,000 grant will be used to provide immigration legal assistance to victims of domestic violence over the next 2 years

  Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire named 2009 Champion in Action
Manchester, N.H. – Citizens Bank New Hampshire and WMUR-TV have named Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire as their 2009 first quarter Champion in Action® in the area of youth programming. As part of the award, Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire will receive a $25,000 grant, media coverage, and extensive promotional and volunteer support for its commitment to inspiring girls throughout New Hampshire to achieve their personal best.

  North Country Health Consortium Awarded Tillotson Funding
Whitefield, NH –The North Country Health Consortium's Northern NH Area Health Education Center (AHEC) has been selected for funding from the Tillotson Fund to develop and implement the North Country Health Care Occupations initiative.

Northern NH AHEC is administered by the Consortium through a contract with Dartmouth Medical School to provide strategies to recruit and retain health professionals in NH's North Country.  The North Country Health Care Occupations Initiative will develop and implement a health careers "pipeline" to expand the number of adults and young adults seeking a career in health care in the region.

  Bonnie CLAC Receives Department of Defense Award
In December, Bonnie CLAC received an award honoring its commitment to supporting service members and their families from the Department of Defense. The award was presented by Ted Kehr, Field Chair of the New Hampshire Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), with James Goss, Executive Director of the New Hampshire ESGR Committee and Peter Merritt, Area Family Assistance Center Coordinator also in attendance.

  Rural New Hampshire Has Greater Opportunities Due to USDA Rural Development Investment
Montpelier, VT - Jolinda H.   2009 Business in the Arts Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2009 Business in the Arts Awards, sponsored annually by the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts to publicly recognize and honor businesses and a business leader that have had significant impact on the state’s arts and cultural environment. Anyone may make a nomination! Arts organizations and artists are encouraged to nominate their favorite businesses. Businesses are encouraged to self nominate. Many businesses donate time and financial support to the arts community in relative anonymity. Nominating a deserving business and/or individual for a Business in the Arts Award is a simple act that demonstrates appreciation, generates good will, and helps bring attention to the exemplary partnerships formed between the arts and these businesses and individuals. The winners will be announced at the Awards banquet on May 11.
