Goyette Memorial Fund Awards Grants to 17 Local Nonprofits Concord, NH – Seventeen nonprofit agencies and community groups serving Peterborough and surrounding communities were recently awarded nearly $200,000 in grants from the A. Erland and Hazel N. Goyette Memorial Fund to support various programs to benefit the residents of the town of Peterborough. The fund was established in 1994 at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation through the estate of Hazel N. Goyette, a long-time resident of Peterborough The purpose of the fund is to support projects intended to sustain and improve the quality of life in Peterborough. Decisions on grant awards are made by a local advisory committee, which reviews all applications submitted by the September 1st deadline each year. Read more...

Manchester - St. Mary’s Bank recently donated $2,800 to Manchester Community College (MCC) to help support its English as a Second Language (ESL) Café. The funds will help cover the costs to operate this new program during the first year while sustainable funding is obtained. “Having been a part of the Greater Manchester community for the past hundred years, St. Mary’s is aware of its large immigrant population and the rich culture this group of people brings to the city,” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach. “We’re pleased to support a program that will assist those that speak English as a second language. MCC’s café will provide them an important resource for learning the English language and sharing in the experiences our vibrant community has to offer.” Read more...
Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) has received a $36,750 grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation Concord, NH - Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) has received a $36,750 grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation. These generous funds will support GSIL’s Access Modification Program (AMP). The grant funds will be used solely to provide a minimum of 15 individuals with spinal cord injuries with the necessary access modifications for their homes. Last year, AMP assisted 44 consumers in overcoming access barriers by providing coordination and funding for the installation of ramps, home modifications, or the purchase of equipment. The AMP program and the critical modifications it makes possible open the door to a greater degree of independence and allows individuals with disabilities to better access their homes and communities. Manchester, NH - St. Mary’s Bank recently gave $1,200 to YMCA of Greater Nashua to assist in the purchase of a youth-sized elliptical machine for the YMCA’s STRIVE Youth Fitness Center. “St. Mary’s Bank is pleased to partner with the YMCA to invest further in the health and wellness of local youth, particularly those from low income families,” said Tom Champagne, Director of Community Outreach. “The YMCA’s programs help counteract issues like childhood obesity and the lack of after-school programs, thereby strengthening our community and its members. Stuart Comstock-Gay to be New President & CEO at Vermont Community Foundation  The board of directors of the Vermont Community Foundation (VCF) has chosen Stuart Comstock-Gay as the Foundation's next President & CEO. Stuart has more than 20 years of experience in building the capacity, reach, and impact of institutions dedicated to bringing people together in the pursuit of community-minded goals. Stuart started his career at the American Civil Liberties Union in Washington, D.C. and in Maryland. He has served as vice president for programs, and then vice president and chief operating officer at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, where early in his tenure he and his program staff distributed nearly $20 million in grants annually. Among his accomplishments at the Charitable Foundation, he launched and directed a high-engagement grantmaking program that included evaluation, management consultation, and ongoing financial support to several targeted partner organizations, some of which became national models. Merrow of Hopkinton as its Vice President of the Program Department. Monadnock Family Services Project Receives Major Grant Support Monadnock Family Services’ initiative to purchase the Jaffrey building housing its Monadnock Adult Care Center has received major support from the state’s Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) and from three regional foundations. The CDFA’s Community Development Investment Program has awarded MFS $200,000 in state tax credits. Businesses can purchase the tax credits from MFS in exchange for a cash contribution to the agency’s capital fund for the purchase of the building. The contribution can be applied against New Hampshire’s business profits, business enterprise, and insurance premium taxes. Any contribution also can qualify as a deduction against the business’s federal tax bill. Read more...
GSIL receives $10,000 Grant Concord - Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) is please to announce the Alexander Eastman Foundation has awarded GSIL $10,000 to support the purchase of a fuel efficient, cross disability bus to be used to transport consumers. Monadnock Family Services' Many Options Program Receives $9,005 Grant Keene, NH – Monadnock Family Services (MFS) is pleased to announce continued support in academics for local youth this year after a $9,005 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation for the Many Options after school program.
