 St. Mary's Bank Donates to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester
MANCHESTER - St. Mary’s Bank recently gave $2,200 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester  to help promote their new mission to Start Something™. Based around the slogan, “Have a little time? Make a big difference.”, Start Something™ is a nation-wide initiative encouraging people to take some of their free time and spend it volunteering at BBBSGM in a variety of capacities, including mentoring a “Little”, assisting with office tasks, , becoming a financial donor and helping at fundraising events.

 Serenity Place Welcomes New Board Members
Serenity Place, Manchester’s addiction crisis and education center, welcomes four new members to the Board of Directors this month: William J. Farrell, Michael B. O’Shaughnessy, Russ Ouellette, and Alan Villeneuve. Board Chair John FitzGerald expressed delight with the breadth of experience and commitment among the new members, saying “Serenity Place is fortunate to attract Board members who understand our mission so well and can be ambassadors in the community for the work that gets donehere.From project management to organizational development, sociology to the law and Board work elsewhere, this incoming group brings years of localexpertise and relationships to the agency.”

 NAMI New Hampshire names new Executive Director
Kenneth Norton will succeed Michael Cohen
Concord, NH - The Board of Directors of NAMI New Hampshire announces that it has appointed Kenneth Norton of Tilton, New Hampshire to the position of Executive Director. Norton will succeed Michael Cohen, who retires this spring after 12 years. Norton is currently NAMI New Hampshire’s Director of the Connect Suicide Prevention Program.

 NH Charitable Foundation announces $295,000 in grants to fund Connecticut River projects
CONCORD - The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation recently announced $295,406 in grant awards from their Upper Connecticut River Mitigation and Enhancement Fund. Grants were awarded to 10 projects across the upper Connecticut River watershed.

 Child Care Center Receives Grant
Rochester Child Care Center was awarded a grant in the amount of $3000 from the Cogswell Benevolent Trust. These funds will be used to support a new initiative in the afterschool extended learning program.

 Children's Museum of NH receives sponsorship to support military families
Dover – This Memorial Day Weekend, the families of military service members will be able to enjoy free admission to the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire thanks to BAE Systems. Generous corporate sponsorship from BAE is allowing the Children’s Museum of NH to admit active-duty and retired military personnel and their immediate families at no charge from Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30, 2011.

 Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains Receive A Newman's Own Foundation Grant
Bedford – Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains was recognized nationally by Newman’s Own Foundation for its dating and domestic violence prevention program, Stop! In the Name of Love. As part of the second-annual Newman’s Own Foundation Campus Community Service Challenge, Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains was nominated by and partnered with the Eta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Sorority at the University of New Hampshire in Durham for a Newman’s Own Foundation grant. In a presentation during the America East Conference basketball championship in Hartford, CT, on March 6, GSGWM was awarded $10,000.

 NH Department of State Dissolves 3,500 Nonprofits
Was One of Them Yours?
Portsmouth - The NH Department of State, Corporate Division, has dissolved approximately 3,500 nonprofits this year pursuant to failure to file reports in 2010.

All nonprofits are required to file a report and $25.00 filing fee with the Department of State every five years. This was effective in in 1990 and thus, all nonprofits had to file a nonprofit report last year (2010). The report was due December 31, 2010.

To check your organization's status, log onto their website and enter your organization's name.
