Citizens Bank Foundation Replenishes Fund at Families First
Portsmouth, NH – The Citizens Bank Foundation recently contributed $5,000 to the Removing Barriers Fund at Families First Health & Support Center, which removes obstacles that can prevent low-income patients from accessing health care at the community health center. Since 2003, the Citizens Bank Foundation has been a major supporter of this fund, contributing a total of $49,000.

N.H. Charitable Foundation Announces $245,000 in Grants
Grants Awarded to Support Environmental, Ecology and Place-Based Education in the Upper Valley
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation announced $245,784 in grant awards from its Wellborn Ecology Fund. The grant dollars will support 13 projects run by local schools, agencies and community organizations within the Foundation’s Upper Valley Region, which serves 61 communities in New Hampshire and Vermont. GCSCC Elects New Officers and Board Members
Grafton County Senior Citizens Council, Inc. (GCSCC) has elected new officers and members of its Board of Directors. With this election, all eight of GCSCC’s service regions are now represented by Board members. Elected as officers are Jim Varnum, President; Jenny Littlewood, Vice President; Pete Moseley, Treasurer; and Dr. Thomas S. Brown, Secretary. USDA Announces Grants to 36 Organizations
Grantees will evaluate landfills, and educate communities to reduce waste streams
USDA marked the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with events to raise awareness about the role of citizens, businesses and communities in protecting the environment and ensuring a cleaner, brighter future for generations to come. This included the announcement of $3.4 million being provided to 36 organizations, including two New Hampshire and one Vermont organization, through the Solid Waste Management Grant Programs. These organizations will use the grants to provide training and technical assistance for reducing solid waste, or to evaluate landfill conditions to determine threats to water resources. Read more...

Children’s Museum Receives Funding from People's United Community Foundation
The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, of which Ocean Bank is a division, announced that it has awarded $6,000 to the Children's Museum of New Hampshire. This generous donation is funding four Free Family Nights this spring, opening the museum to all families at no charge on specially designated evenings.

St. Mary’s Bank Donates $1,500 to Rubia’s Sewing Confidence Program
St. Mary’s Bank today announced it gave $1,500 to help expand Rubia’s Sewing Confidence Program, which creates educational and economic opportunities through craft heritage for refugee women settled in Manchester.
Specifically, the funds will assist in a number of initiatives, including the purchase of new Singer sewing machines, the creation of a series of business workshops for women in the program and the provision of storage cabinets and other equipment for a new classroom.

Moore Center Services Receives TD Charitable Foundation Grants
The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, Americas Most Convenient Bank ®, continues its support of people with disabilities with a $15,000 donation to Moore Center Services, to be used for direct support training.
The funds pay the cost of the College of Direct Support, a cutting-edge online-based training curriculum for direct support workers. The training, developed by the University of Minnesota and licensed and administered by Moore Center Services in New England, is crafted to train enrollees in the latest best practices of the human services field.

The Corporation Announces Nonprofit Capacity Building Program
The Corporation for National and Community Service (the Corporation) announced its Nonprofit Capacity Building Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) -- a new program designed to increase the capacity of small nonprofits to expand their impact in communities facing resource hardships to develop and implement performance management systems.
The Corporation’s Nonprofit Capacity Building Program, authorized under the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, will provide $1 million to a small number of intermediary grantees to provide small nonprofits with organizational development assistance to establish procedures for measuring progress and improving performance towards intended outcomes leading to community impact.
The letter of Intent to Apply for the NOFA is due on April 27, and the deadline for applications is May 18 by 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
