Concord - The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation announced today that it made more than 970 awards totaling more than $6.5 million during the third quarter of 2011. So far this calendar year, the foundation has granted $25 million.
Highlights from the quarter include thirty express grants ($5,000 each or less) which totaled $128,400. A dozen grants totaling $125,000 were made in the Manchester Region. View a complete list of Manchester grants... http://www.nhcf.org/document.doc?id=1171
Also, 334 scholarships were awarded to help New Hampshire students further their education; a small but important population was adult students, for whom there is little access to other types of education funding.
In addition, hundreds of elderly and disabled are able to live independently in their own homes because of the support from one fund that originated in Nashua and has statewide impact: The Fund for Accessible Living. This quarter it provided five grants of more than $10,000 each to organizations that modify homes for independent living: Community Partners Behavioral Health & Development Service, COVER Home Repair Inc., Crotched Mountain Foundation, Granite State Independent Living, and Gateways Community Services.
The fourth quarter grants announcement will include results from the fall competitive grant cycle. The next application deadline will be in 2012. Interested applicants are invited to visit www.nhcf.org.
