The Center for Wildlife is a registered 501 (c)(3) NPO, located in Southern Maine. The Center for Wildlife was established in 1986 to treat sick and injured wildlife, and currently treats approximately 1,600 animals a year. In addition, we provide a variety of education-based programs throughout southern Maine and seacoast New Hampshire to promote respect and understanding for wildlife and their habitat. Description:

The Center for Wildlife is seeking an Executive Director to work with its Board of Directors, donors and staff to implement our fund raising, strategic and operational goals. We are looking for a leader with a proven track record in fund raising, financial oversight, grant proposal writing, foundation and community relations, donor cultivation and project management as well as operational management.

Requirements:
  • Experience in some animal related field
  • At least 3-5 years experience in fundraising and development
  • Experience with Grant proposal writing
  • Experience with organizational financial oversight

Proven track record of:

  • Meeting targets and deadlines.
  • Meeting fundraising goals.
  • Finding new and untapped arenas for funding
Responsibilities:
  • Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment, Legacy gifts capital campaigns, grants, special projects, and other fundraising solicitations as required.
  • Ensures that all fundraising programs and activities the Center offers and provides contribute to the Center’s mission and support the priorities set forth by the Board.
  • Performs research and creates strategies to identify, prioritize, cultivate, solicit, and recognize new donors and prospects.  Strengthens the organizations current funding sources
  • Researches public and private grant sources to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding
  • Writes, submits, follows up on or delegates as appropriate all grant requests.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with current, new and potential giving organizations and individuals.
  • Oversees and implements strategies that will grow annual revenue.
  • Oversees all day to day operations of the organization and facilities.
  • Is responsible for the recruitment, employment and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.
  • Is responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.
