Southern New Hampshire University is looking for smaller, local nonprofits interested in participating in a Service Learning/final project. Small teams of students will be developing a PR plan and materials for lesser-known nonprofit organizations. This is not an internship. The students serve as external consultants to the nonprofit. The nonprofit Birchtree Center in Newington invites organizations to use its mail-stuffing and light-assembly services, which are offered free-of-charge by young adults with autism who are developing their vocational skills. Available services include badge making, magnet making, gift-bag assembly, conference-packet stuffing, labeling, folding, and envelope stuffing. Most projects will take a week or more to complete. Services are complimentary, although donations are welcome.

These services are a component of Birchtree’s Students Achieving Independence for Life (SAIL) program. Students with autism attending Birchtree’s year-round special-educational day program participate in the program from age fourteen through twenty-one. Through intensive, hands-on instruction at school and in the community, SAIL students develop vocational skills and work towards independent living, community participation, and lifelong learning.
