"I'm
pleased to represent Northern New Hampshire and the many small
non-profits throughout the state that are run by one- or two-person
staffs or entirely by volunteers. These organizations do extraordinary
work under difficult conditions, and it's critical that we pay careful
attention to their needs and circumstances, celebrate their
achievements, and offer them a wide array of opportunities."
Frumie Selchen is the Executive Director of the Arts Alliance of
Northern New Hampshire, a nonprofit with a mission to promote, support,
and sustain culture and the arts in the northern third of the state,
from Plymouth to Pittsburg.
She has worked in magazine,
newspaper, and book publishing in New York, New Mexico, and New
Orleans; served as the Rural Arts Field Coordinator for the NH State
Council on the Arts; is trained as a volunteer mediator and as a peer
mentor for the New England States arts councils; and is an independent
scholar on the roster of the NH Humanities Council.
She serves on
the advisory board of the NH Charitable Foundation, North Country
Region, and on many regional and statewide committees. A graduate of
Yale University, she grew up in Canada, and has lived in the beautiful
village of Wonalancet for the past 22 years with her husband, Doug
McVicar (they have two children – who, alas, are no longer residents). |
