John F. Bunker
John Bunker is the founding Executive
Director/President of New Futures, Inc. in Portsmouth, NH. New
Futures, established in 1997, is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy
organization seeking to reduce the harm caused by alcohol, tobacco and
other drug problems.
Prior to his work with New Futures, John
was the Vice President of Health Risk Management for Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of New Hampshire and a Health Care Consultant with the The
Wyatt Company in Washington, DC. John holds a Doctorate in Behavioral
Sciences and a Masters in Health Science from Johns Hopkins University
and a Bachelors of Arts and Social Sciences from Birmingham-Southern
College.
John is on the National Advisory Committee of the
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for Reclaiming New Futures and Local
Initiative Funding Partners Program. He has been a member of the
National Institute of Health, Scientific Review Panel. On the Board of
Directors for the New England Institute of Addiction Studies and on the
NH Attorney General’s Underage Drinking Task Force.
John has
given presentaions on “Leveraging the National Academies/Institute Of
Medicine Report To Develop a State Strategy to Reduce Underage Alcohol
Problems: Lessons From New Hampshire” at the American Public Health
Association Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington,DC and on
“Reducing Underage Alcohol policy: Advocacy for Public Policy Change in
New Hampshire” at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Third
Annual Partnership Conference on Public Health and the Law, Atlanta, GA
