Keene – Monadnock United Way (MUW) campaign volunteers gathered for a seventh Report Breakfast on Friday, January 13th. John Hoffman, General Campaign Chair announced to the attendees that the Campaign has raised $2,081,054. “I am confident that with the continued generosity of this community, this Campaign will raise the necessary funds to provide our Partner Agencies and their programs with 100% of their allocation.” Hoffman said. With just over two weeks remaining, the dollar-for-dollar match of the New Year, New Challenge still going on, plus several workplace campaigns that have just started or haven’t reported in yet, everyone remains hopeful that a successful conclusion to this year’s Campaign is just around the corner.
Speaking for ActingOut, one of the MUW Partner Agencies, was Program Coordinator, Eric Snare. The mission of the program is to cultivate resiliency, social skills, and healthy development in youth through theater training. ActingOut offers after school and in school groups for those interested in the performing arts and/or those looking for self-expression and personal growth. ActingOut has a number of groups throughout the region, including groups at Keene High School and ConVal High School. The program has also branched out to the area middle schools, including Marlborough School, South Meadow Middle School, and Keene Middle School. ActingOut now serves over 215 high school and middle school youth.
Loaned Employee, Katelin Langley introduced Lynne Keating and Cindy Schmidt from Keating Plumbing and Heating to talk about their first, and very successful employee campaign. Lynne said that it never occurred to her to have an employee campaign since they are a small company with only 14 employees. But with Katelin’s “encouragement” and Cindy’s hard work as campaign coordinator, plus positive employee feedback, Keating Plumbing and Heating was able to raise $2496 and had over 80% employee participation in their first-ever employee campaign.
