Concord - The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has named Sherry-Lea Bloodworth Botop, of Portsmouth, N.H., to the position of philanthropy advisor. In this role, Bloodworth Botop is based in the Piscataqua Region office, where she works closely with advisory board members, donors, and professional advisors.
A native of New Orleans, Bloodworth Botop has extensive philanthropy experience, including starting and managing a corporate foundation, working as executive director of several nonprofits and helping to raise approximately $34 million for affordable housing on the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. Prior to relocating to New Hampshire from the Gulf Coast, she was vice president of Mercy Medical, a charity healthcare system.
Before embarking upon her current career, Bloodworth Botop was a professional ballet dancer. She continues to be active in running, ballet and hiking. She is married and has two sons.
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation manages a growing collection of charitable funds created by individuals, families and businesses, and awards approximately $30 million annually in grants and scholarships. It serves communities throughout New Hampshire, southeastern Maine and eastern Vermont. The Foundation is nonpartisan, frequently playing the role of convener and catalyst on a broad spectrum of issues.
