Manchester – Families in Transition (FIT), a Manchester- and Concord-based homeless housing and services provider, received a new Toyota Sienna mini van on Thursday, December 15, as a winner of Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program. The vehicle was picked up from Ira Toyota in Manchester, and representatives from Corporate Toyota were also present as the keys were handed to FIT President, Maureen Beauregard.
FIT plans to use the new vehicle to transport homeless children to and from their innovative, homeless-informed preschool and childcare center, as well as offer transportation assistance to FIT adult participants for counseling sessions, educational workshops, and other services. “This car is important to us because it is at the core of what we do and why we do it. Our transportation is getting kids reconnected to their community,” said Maureen Beauregard, FIT President. “We’d like to thank the entire community for the votes they provided which helped us win the van.”
The Toyota 100 Cars for Good program, held from May through August, awarded 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public on Toyota’s Facebook page. Five organizations from across the nation were profiled each day, and the organization with the most votes for that day won a new Toyota vehicle. Families in Transition was featured on July 13 along with four other finalists and received the most votes.
